![]() Then I placed my thumb on the pencil where the edge of the nose was positioned and moved the pencil over to my drawing. For example, I lined up the tip of the pencil on the left cheek, then measured the distance from the edge of the cheek to the edge of the nose. ![]() I did this by taking my Apple Pencil and holding it horizontally over the photo. Sight-sizing is a little difficult to do on the iPad Pro, but will help to get fairly accurate measurements. In the image above I started the envelope on the left side and then sort of switched to using the sight-size method. ![]() I never really got the hang of it, but keep trying it as I think it has value in helping to see overall shapes. Last year in a painting class I learned the envelope method for drawing. For the drawing, I used the pencil tool and started with drawing simple shapes and angles.
